Trump Prosecutions
New York State Case - Hush Money/False Business Records
The New York case is set to go to trial on March 25 and there doesn’t seem to be much that could stand in its way. There were no new court rulings to report on this week.
I posted a long thread on The Platform Formerly Known as Twitter about the reasons I fear the case could have problems (as I’ve written here before). You can find that here if you’re interested.
Since I posted that I’ve had some helpful online exchanges with a former NY state prosecutor, Daniel R. Alonso, that have made me a bit less pessimistic. Essentially he argues I’m relying on federal fraud concepts that don’t apply to this New York state statute. He may be right - we will see!
Georgia State Case - January 6 Allegations
After the drama of last week with the hearing on the motion to disqualify and fiery testimony from DA Fani Willis, Georgia was relatively quiet this week. On Friday Judge McAfee announced he would hear arguments from the attorneys regarding the disqualification motion on March 1. There is a chance he might re-open the hearing if new evidence comes to light, including evidence he will hear privately in chambers regarding information that special prosecutor Wade’s former law partner and divorce lawyer Terrence Bradley claimed was protected by attorney-client privilege. McAfee is scheduled to meet with Bradley on Monday after denying a request from Wade to block that meeting.
